2 days. And new postcards.

So today, was, well, a bit of the usual. There was nothing much happening, except for the year meeting. But I'll get to that later.
Firstly, requiescat in pace, grandma. (d. 4:30 am, 19/5/10). I might have to attend the funeral on Monday, so don't expect me around.
Secondly, thank God there was no IPT this morning, I was so washed out after Tuesday, that I just didn't do anything on Wednesday.
Thirdly, yeah, we lost 2-0 in soccer yesterday. I consider myself chastised.
Fourthly, badminton was fun. Good job, guys! (No sarcasm intended.)
Fifthly, English was just...LOL, nothing happened, moving on.
Sixthly, at recess I was running around the place. It turns out that Ms Connors wanted some people to hand out flyers for the musical.
Seventhly, HG...um...can't find anything to say...watched a DVD by AusAID about aid (duh) and got a "booklet" (to me, booklets are folded.). Burgess predicted that we'd talk about the formal committee and other stuff like that.
She turned out to be right. Wait, let me get my notes on this (yes, I made notes SPECIFICALLY so I'd remember what happened so I could write it up here.).
What happened in the Year Assembly today
  • Freya raised the most in 40-Hour Famine last year; she got a box (probably a metal bottle) and a Mathaid from Mr Perrins (who's now the Year Adviser (again), because Mr Lees decided to take a LSL (again) and leave Burgess as Head HSIE (again). What's not happening again is we're not having Mrs Hameed for Assistant again, this time we have M. Wilson (LOL, I found out in French on Monday, just forgot to post it. And yes, the fact that I've said M. (for Monsieur) and not Mr is vaguely significant. Gives you a clue what I'm talking about if you didn't know already.))
  • Speech by Ms Wratten (gee, we have a lot of teachers whose last names start with "W"):
    • cheating in exams
    • (cyber-)bullying, harassment and discrimination are NOT OK
      • And on that note, I never have and never will bully anyone on this blog. I don't bash Linda Wu (mostly because I have no idea what she's saying half the time, and most people say that it's what she says; and that she has never, ever said a bad word to me (that I heard, anyway)); I don't bash people who hate me (unless I'm in a really bad mood, and I don't bully people, full stop, period, point); I don't bash Mr Kowalski (it's meant to be constructive criticism. Even at its very meanest I don't insult him. Hopefully.); I don't bully ANYONE HERE. Is that clear? Right. Right, point of policy here. No bullying by me. That's all I'm going to say.
  • Caleb performed a work on the piano; it was "Spanish Caprice" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It was beautifully performed. Good work. (I almost cried.)
  • Mr Yeo addressed the HSC students in the room (of whom I was one, but thankfully not one of those addressed). He said that if we didn't collect our PIN from his room and gave him a specimen (his word) of our signature, he would delete our HSC topic and we wouldn't be able to sit it. (Hmm, maybe I should have avoided it for as long as possible.) Oh, and if we had a query, we would have to submit a letter to the BOS, where we would be identified with our signatures.
  • Johnny got up and basically thanked everyone involved in the barbecue on Shades for AIDS day, when there was mufti. Oh, and for people who do do High Resolves, it's on um, next Monday, p. 6 & 7.
  • M. Wilson handed out some forms (basically the only thing I saw him do during the whole thing), one for listing all the extracurricular activities that we did and one for paying for our ballroom dance thingy.
  • Oh, and we elected the Formal Committee, did I mention? (I probably did.) (Committee's a silly word.) Basically, Ben (representing Kerrie, Carmen, Claudia, Sydney, Geoffrey and himself), Matt (representing "the boys") and Leanne (representing her group) were elected, Ben because he didn't really do anything much (that's what he said). Naturally, I missed out. I'm ashamed to say that I wasn't exactly a good loser. I'd calmed down by the time I'd gotten out of the hall, though.
And then, at lunch, we (meaning me, Ben, Kerrie, Carmen and Syd, Claudia being at S&L and Geoffrey being with Jim and his group (and at S&L anyway)) were discussing our softball thing (which was/will be in Week 9 (I think)) for PE, and Ben, because his experience lay mostly in the field of baseball (which he played/plays for summer sport, like Kerrie actually plays softball), discussed mostly baseball tactics, which I found somewhat helpful (because baseball and softball are pretty close, right?), but all we ended up with was this (because all we ended up doing was arguing about whether or not we could combine the "outfield catches" drill and the "base drills" (which Ben said we couldn't, but we were going to run behind if we got them to do both, and it ended up being a very complicated back-and-forth argument):
1 hour
Stretch
Warmup: partner throwing and catching
(8 mins for above)
17 mins for skill development: base drills
30 mins modified game
Oh, and at the beginning, when I arrived, we had a little discussion on how there were really 4 groups/demographics in our class, the fourth group being "[me] [Me] and Jim and Han and the rest". More on that later.
And then the bell rang and I had to run all the way to T block. Ridiculous, for a maths class, n'est-ce pas? (Isn't it?)
Apparently, they'd done ASTC yesterday, but I sat through the explanation anyway. (Because I was bored, that's why.)
And then we had Ag, where I asked Jim and Steven if they felt they would be accurately represented by Matt, who, no offence, isn't really part of Jim's social circle. Then Roshan comes in and just was a general ass. (Not bullying, it's been used to describe him before, and yeah, he is kinda that. At. All. Times.) And then Jim & Steven say that they're perfectly fine with Matt representing them. And that I couldn't possibly do better. (That IS what they said. Just paraphrased because my memory's awful.) And then David and Han come in, and Han goes out looking for his lappy. Which turned out to be in his bag after all. And then Roshan accused David of "not sounding like him[self]", which David said was bullying. Right accusation, wrong person.
So then, David, Han and I, after I asked them basically the same question as Jim and Steven (and Roshan), got into a involved discussion about how there were at least 5 social groups, because Steven, Emery, Albert V., Eric and the like formed another social group, and that Han and I were clear out of the main social groups (him because he likes to think of himself as an autistic psychopath (his words, paraphrased and concatenated); and me because I'm a social butterfly; I go from group to group whenever I feel like it). So then I should have stood as a representative for myself or not at all. I wonder if I could possibly join?
And then I went to the library.
And yes, there are new postcards today, I went up after school and looked. And took a few, in addition to a newspaper, New Scientist Careers Guide, HSC timetable and a flyer for a competition.
And I did library duty; apparently Ms Romanov and Mrs Kunz can't be here during lunch, so Mrs Hayes is taking over tomorrow.
And then I went home, pigged out on apple pies and custard tarts, went on the computer, played Infectionator (conquered the world in 129 in-game days, I think) and typed this up. Oh, and copied out the manières de dire for French tomorrow. Still need to draw a farm model.
And also; for the benefit of those who haven't studied IPT; to link to my blog, use this code:
:<:a href = "http://what-is-it-that-it-is.blogspot.com/":>:[insert text, images (using :<:img:>::<:/img:>: tags), whatever here]:<:/a:>:
OR:
:<:a href="http://what-is-it-that-it-is.blogspot.com/" target="_tab":>:[insert text, images (using :<:img:>::<:/img:>: tags), whatever here]:<:/a:>:
and just remove all the colons (":") from it (because otherwise, without the colons the code wouldn't show up on this page) and replace the text within the square brackets. Hey, don't look at me like that, we had to learn this in IPT.
And also, you'll notice that I've given up on dashes and now am just highlighting in black to hide the names of teachers so that I can't be sued (hopefully.)
Right. Night, people.
EDIT: LOL? Masterpieces stolen in Paris
EDIT: And did I forget to mention that I borrowed "Alcatraz and the Scrivener's Bones", "The Book of Time" and "Abernewtyn Mon Amour" today? Yeah.
