In which I post like a demented ferret on speeeeeeeed (unedited, for the most part)

Meaning, in general, inchoate squeeing because I'm posting at 1:30 am without WYSIWYG.
(Yes, I did in fact watch that episode of House. That part was memorable.)

Since this blog might as well be entirely squee and snark and no-one, least of all myself, could tell the difference, I started a more serious blog at http://purpleshift.wordpress.com/ , wherein I do [something, God knows what]. I am not, however, suggesting that this blog is now automatically funny because it is now definitely random & personal.

I honestly cannot believe that I have not previously used a "holidays" tag.

I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry.

OR, A Summary of the School Certificate week (so far)
Did you know that standardised English spelling didn't exist till the 14th century, I believe, because of the invention of the printing press?
I shall proceed to post my account of the preceding week - when I can be bothered to. I have many a few photos Yes Linda, if you behave, I might post the one with you in the foreground. I can always post the one without you. (In fact, I'm not sure which option I picked...)
I hate not having constant access to social networking sites.
It looks like Mum found my stash of RAEGAHOL (tm); she can't stop shouting today. It looks like I've got myself a nasty case of inferiority complex. How nasty? I don't know whether or not this should go under angst, but still. Nasty.
English-lit: meh. Did you hear about the facebook groups? I FORGOT TO WRITE ABOUT RED EARTH.
Science: mostly skills-based.
Maths: I told you I didn't need to study!
History:  ARGH WE DID NOT DO A PRIME MINISTER so I just made an implicit comparison of the Vietnam War to the Iraq War. Also, it was the one with the highest knowledge-to-skills ratio.
Geography: It was alright. Most of it we'd already done in the trials. I still forgot loads.
IPT Skills Computer Skills: WTF IPT in my CS SC? It's more common than you might think.
Then we had "Chem" today. Min-Zhao had a small rant on attendance. Blah blah blah. Heat/light tomorrow.
Also, I went to Liverpool Markets on Saturday; I bought the necklace & a couple of bracelets there.
In sport today, because I was playing with the Yr 11 team today, I can't report on the Yr 10 team today (sorry, sorry); but still, we had an over of awesome. Ria, one of the Yr 11 girls, managed to get the team out 5 times, 2 of which were by bowling out. It was pretty awesome. I didn't get to run much today, because the Model Farms fielders were pretty darn good, but we won 25-8. (They usually get over 50, however.) Because the Yr 10 team won 28-15 as well, we're playing ourselves next week in the finals. BBQ, anyone?
In any case, try to get some of next year's Yr 9s in as well; our team's mostly Yr 11s and 10s, not that that's a bad thing, but some of the Yr 12s'll be retiring next season. Hmm...
Anyway. I can't think of what to say.

What Would You Do? (If You Were Bored To The Point Of Insanity & Still Had To Work?)

Bored, bored, bored BORED!
Well, not really any more, since I can just download a new ebook/audiobook/TV episode/movie/comic/music/hell, a soundtrack. This IS the Interwebs, after all. It's not just for pr0n. (I bet Tancred, when he reads this, will either be "I see what you did thar" or something like "OMGWTFBBQ". No, really. Memes all the way. Proper memes, too.)
And I have one, glorious (hopefully) spring holiday to read/watch/listen, before...before the stress.
And I came up with the title on Thursday, so don't blame me if you experience severe mood dissonance. Blame Thursday me, who was busy RAEGING at shit because of a slightly disconcerting phone call from Dad in the car trip between Chem (sorta) Olympiad and dinner (at granny's place, with a few aunts and associated families). And that was on Wednesday. Don't blame Saturday me, who is doing lots of shit that Saturday me usually does before realising on Sunday that I have to go back to school on Monday, except this week I DON'T HAVE TO! HOORAY!
I think I answered the question above, really. Although, you could expand the list with "reading TVTropes pages" and "making up fanfic". Speaking of the latter, I might just set up a new blog/LiveJournal/whatever just do I could post up random stories. I need to work on my characterisation and plot, anyway. And this is mainly non-fiction here. It would be completely ruining the point of this blog if I were to post actual stories, rather than just attempts at stream-of-consciousness writing. Which I think I fail at. And now I think I understand why fanfic writers love reviews/comments. (They don't want to be shouting into the darkness, either, I presume.) Still, I still think that some shyness lingers here still. (I don't like exclamation marks, for one. They don't convey different emotions well.)
I also think that this is the most coherent post I've made in months weeks. ("Months" is exaggerating.)

What Would You Do With Pockets? (That Are Bigger On The Inside)

Or, Une fête!
OMFG RAEG  at:
  • pocketless nightdresses so you either have to carry stuff or put it in the Victoria's Secret Compartment
  • work
  • This.
  • headaches
  • slow downloads (can I has Doctor Who NAO?!)
  • assignments
  • forgetfulness
  • guessing games. Especially long ones.
I would much rather do Maths, frankly.
Also, I was at the Carlingford West P.S. fête too! (cbf recounting atm.)
boredboredbored waiting bored.
Going to watch TAYG nao.
Extended post later.

How Do I Shop Online?

Or, Things Should Be Looking Up About Now (Hopefully)

Today, today, today...
What's been going on this past week?
Well, today was, well, a reasonable sort of spring day. Not too froid, not too chaud, and I got to take my jumper off. Bit of wind. Nothing happened that was metaphorically life-threatening.
Oh, happy birthday Abbi!
*really ought to make that blinkie .gif, if only for this purpose*
Wait, give me a mo...(probably about 1/2 hour, but anyway.)
Aw crud...I'll do it later.
No! Don't even think about touching Firefox, you!
Lily Allen's music. Really.
I watched Marie Antoinette (the film) last last Friday. I have decided that I will be writing a comedy, at least in the middle bit. That bit's mostly filler, anyway. What fun one can have with a biology textbook and a time machine, I wonder?
Would do a picspam, but meh.
Also, I need an SD card.
I really, really do not want to open Firefox. Before you ask, 4 windows, in excess of 100 (and probably 200) total. This is an XP computer. I am running iTunes 10 AND Word '10 AND Google Chrome. ...yeah, not good. No! Not even for fanfic!
Oh, and we set up chairs in the hall today.
I'll stop there now.
Oh, and please answer the question posed in the title in the comments. That is, if you read it. *freaking schedule slip* *grumble*

My First Book Of Autobiographical Stream-Of-Consciousness Stories Part 1

Now:
Really, this is...not really, well, maybe perhaps the first one I've actually posted on here. And I know this is insanely meta, because this is a story and all and I'm not going to put in where I've gone and edited bits back and forth in my head and well...what was the point of that insanely long run-on sentence? Ah yes. I'm getting ahead of myself. Yes.
This is a stream of consciousness story, or post, whichever fits better, where we attempt to follow - I say follow because if it went straight from head to screen it would be an incomprehensible string of half-formed words and thoughts - Fire up the thought engines! - so we're trying to minimise the whole "jumping tracks around my head midway" thing here. And hopefully it'll be in sequential sentences. And yes, this is part of it too. Did you think, maybe, these were author's notes? Well, the line's blurred, and so are many others. Enjoy while I procrastinate and angst at the same time.
Scroll down to the very bottom for the distilled, but slightly different version. It's a long way down.
Buckle up for a ride inside my weird, weird head. Like I said, autobiographical.

YAYY Procrastination. Not.

Or, I Am So Fucking Bored I Don't Give A Shit (Reprise)

Really, how else do you explain the sudden lack of work done? (Apart from TVTropes and fanfic, but we won't go there.) (Or the inexorable flood of assignments/exams/other shit, but we won't go there.)

I haven't done any proper work in about a week. And now, well, shit. If only weekends were longer, but that would be defeating the point of a week-end, which are like bookends to a week, and now I'm not making any sense so I'll stop now.

Really, I just feel like unleashing a ton of xkcd/TVTropes linkys here, so, just go here before I change my mind: http://xkcd.com/

Over and out.

P.S. If you want to fin out what I'm meant to be mentally unprepared for, just read the tags, it'll help some.
P.S.S. Nobody gives a shit about the election, but it still looks like a hung parliament for now.
P.S.S.S. Jim's changed his blog theme @ http://duvrangnir.blogspot.com/.
P.S.S.S.S. Someone tried to blow up Discovery Channel HQ in the US. He died. The lesson, kids, is to no blow up stuff, because you'll die, one way or another. I know people die, but really, I'd rather die when I'm good and ready.

Signing off.

Comedic Election Coverage (Which Probably Isn't Mine)

or, I Swear That Was Either A Stealth Coffee or Doctor Who Joke
It has come to my attention (such that it is) that there is no election coverage on my blog. At. All.
As a seasoned WH40K player might put it, "This! Is! Heresy!"
To make up for this appalling shortfall, I shall have to inject some coverage of it, even if it is, quite, annoying, anvillicious, inappropriate, and/or coverage of coverage.
BIAS DISCLAIMER: And if you don't know already, my family normally votes Labor, and I'm still not persuaded on Abbott, i.e., I'm of a left-leaning persuasion. That is, Labor-voting. So, if you aren't prepared for vaguely biased perceptions, I suggest you get your ideological goggles out and your flame-thrower. I'll be waiting.
That's nice. Very nice. *slow clap* They've (that is, Lateline) put the Labor minister (Stephen Conroy) in front of a blue background, and the Liberal one (*something, p'rhaps Tony* Smith) in front of a red one.
And the Chaser really were the Lateline warm-up act. (I think they also did the lead-in summary.)
Right, so today I got a diagnosis for...whatever I've got. 'Tis (apparently) an early lung infection.
Ow, my back. And my neck, shoulders, and arms. Ow.
So, the first bit of today's election campaign was Gruen Nation--
Ooh, just thew up on the kitchen floor, don't worry, I cleaned it up. Ooh, my legs are numb and lungs are kinda noisy. What I wouldn't give for a massage or a walking stick. Oh, wait, I might have some. Just not now. And anyway, that was meant to be a metaphor. Ow, my feet are numb and I've not sat on them!
Sorry about that, it's just that-erm, how shall I put this?-I'm not exactly in the best of health at the moment. And I think my brain's a little foggy. Ooh, ow. Looks like I definitely need some self-prescribed bedrest for a week, IMHO.
Anyway, back to the campaign trail - Gruen Nation was first up on the ABC's schedule tonight (well, that I watched, anyway), and it was kinda reminiscent of the Chaser. A little bit. I especially liked the text-ads that scrolled down and then back up. That was nice.
And then it was the Chaser's War On Everything Yes We CanWillberra! And apparently Obama's suing for that-NOT. I'm not sure how many of those tweets were real, but they most definitely were funny. And don't forget the Latham Hand Cam. Especially the silly bits. And I bet they timed the tweet and the toiletend bit perfectly. Oh, and the Hansen-in-hot-tub bit. Yeah, that was silly too.
Oh, and about that subtitle, there was a bit about a coffee ad (for Vittoria Coffee), and they were talking about thoseinsanelyfasttalkerstheyemploytodothecampaignads and what they do outside of doing commercials for both parties during the run-up to the election and the obvious answer (doing those PSAs for governments and charities pushing an issue other than their lack of government revenue (i.e. charity appeals) they were complaining about the casting of Al Pacino as the face of said coffee ads and not the really fast speakers from the end of those election ads. Who, apparently, drink 20 cups of coffee in the morning, so much so, that he started tapping out a rhythm on the table. And he was wearing a large, round ring.  And I heard that one of them was a fanboy...alright, enough with the Epileptic Tree planting.
LOL, how long did it take to run the warning for Jekyll (which I managed to miss first time round, but it has Steven Moffat as the writer, so, Nightmare Fuel unleaded ahoy!)? Around two minutes?
Ooh, look at that Slasher Smile!
OK, WTF is with those ads on the side?
Alright, now I probably should be heading off to bed about now...Night, everyone.

Annoyed Citizens Anonymous, Or, On The Judicious Use Of Running Away

And you must laugh or I will snicker at you.
*snicker* *snicker*
[Han: *snack*]
Well, this is shaping up to be a very long post and I've just read an article on how to use the jump cut, so let's experiment.
Allons-y.

Well, what can I say? Firstly, I just did a French test earlier today. We'll attribute all outbreaks of French to that. Secondly, I like squeezing in references (that was planned), and I, well, still think "Geronimo!" sounds stupid, or at the very least, not brilliantly appropriate
Well, it's high time I started posting again. It's been a long time, friends, enemies & neutral parties. Let's work backwards.
So, I just finished the survey. Damn well annoying it is too. I don't like surveys. At the very bottom (no, above the comments, what few there are) are some of the more...vitriolic feedback. Did I ever tell you that I was bad at doing evaluations?
So then, in last double-period Maths, first Mr Woodhouse walked in and started talking about the rankings and 3-unit maths, blah-di-blah-blah. Basically, as Mrs Briggs boiled it down to, if you're on the bottom end of the class Year 10 equivalent of the bottom of 10E, if you don't shape up, your application for Extension 1 Maths may be knocked back. So then that sparked a discussion about scaling and stuff and when the subject selection form was due. So, the obvious happened when Ms Connors walked in to say that she wanted us students to attend the Parent Information Night next week - she was fired with questions. Oh, BTW, the subject selection form is due August 6th.
Not much happened in English. We kept on reading "The Importance of Being Earnest" and watching bits.
In Ag, the first of the presentations started. Hmm...might have trouble on the confidence front if, well, yeah.
In French, we had the Unité 5 test. I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS.
In Science...more inactivites and tangential talking with Mr Kowalski, part 221?
In IPT...we've apparently started our Transaction Processing "option".

Yesterday...did anything happen yesterday? Oh, right, Parent/Teacher Interviews. For the sake of my life I ran away. That's why I wasn't there. Oh, and I managed to lose 4 seconds off my 1.6 time (now 12:24) and 1 kilo. Not much, but an improvement, all the same. (and I'd just eaten a pie.)

On Wednesday, we lost 2-1 to Baulkham Hills. Again. Hey, at least we scored a goal. Then we watched Oatlands get owned by play...erm, this random school from out Blacktown way. Kings-something.
In English, Ms St Louis decided that we were very rude to the sub on Tuesday and needed a good ol' talking-to. Turns out McFadyen gave us something we'd already done.
In Ag...we lopped cauliflowers and pulled out the rest. Then we drew names out of a hat box to decide the order of the talks.
In Maths...I staggered in 27 minutes late, well-winded, because I'd been late for the car (not my bloody problem I had a health problem) and ended up with a little booklet.

On Tuesday, it was the Brain Bee.The ultimate test of neuroscience. So, first I missed the bus by 15 minutes...yeah. Then I just caught it at Granville. Nearly got run over by a car. (I invoke Quantum Immortality here.) Then, I was at the back with Kerrie, Ben, Matthew and Victor, with occasional appearances from Jim. (Claudia arrived at UWS by herself, presumably.) Then I guess I did OK in the Individual quarter-finals. (Oh, look! Free t-shirts!) Then came the team semi-finals, to which Matthew played a little guessing-game with Johnny and I about the answers. Then we had recess, of fruit, fruit tarts (well, passionfruit), custard tarts and cake. Which was not a lie. (Although the promised lunch barbeque was. I DON'T LIKE tomato/egg/cucumber sandwiches!) And then we had lectures and the team finals. Which I promptly slept through. We came third. Behind Baulkham Hills & PLC. And then we had lunch. The sandwiches were horrible. Knew I shouldn't have eaten those apple pies at recess. The quiche and cake, to a lesser degree, was alright. Then we had the tour of the (computer) lab, where we got to shock each other. Only stood up to 3 mA, moi. I decided to go sit with the Newcastle Grammar people to mingle a bit, because everyone was sitting with their own school, isolationists, all of them; which meant I got paired (grouped?) up with two girls named Sarah and Sam. They were nice enough, I suppose. Don't think I could go up to 20 mA, though. Then it was time for the individual finals, where Beryl, Johnny, and surprisingly, Jim got called up as part of the final 12. Then they were all eliminated (Johnny by way of several silly mistakes, although I didn't know some of them myself), till Jim, a girl from PLC (named Mercy) and a chap from BHHS (can't spell his name, but he was the clear winner) were the only ones left. Roshan later said that Jim lost because of two silly mistakes. Then again, he managed to come third, behind BHHS chap and PLC girl (yes, I noticed), so he did alright. Silly certificates, though. (Cheap printer paper.) He'd won an iPod, from which he became inseparable (and with which he ran the 1.6).

Oh, and I just posted a lot of old drafts that I found cluttering up the top.
And Jim has a webcomic. Huh. Don't have a tag for him. WTF? There is one now, at least.

Anyway, here's a little rant from the survey (delivered on pg. 15), published for your edification:

Have you seen the way they use laptops? Word processing and workbooks! We could just as easily write it out by hand, though it's likely that most people would complain a bit. I ask you, is it any wonder that students are putting them to slightly better use by watching videos? There are plenty more programs on the laptops. Teachers: USE THEM. The most we got out of it was probably when they were new and teachers wanted to experiment with the programs. Now that it's all old news, nobody wants to try out the different programs and there aren't any incentives to do so! And also, the intranet is underdeveloped; many sections are basically "This is a new page, yet to be filled out by people who can be bothered". In short, the Education Revolution that Ms Gillard promised us back in '07 still hasn't arrived. We're basically still only using the laptops in place of desktop computers - to trawl Wikipedia and regurgitate said info onto assignments. The OneNote thing is an afterthought, used only in certain theory-based classes.
And on the next page:
Q. 3 - Were these questions tailored for the options picked on the first page? Because I still don't see my Year 11 subject selection form; I don't remember a Year 10 camp, Gloucester or Peer Support, etc.
Q. 6 - Yeah, pity we CAN'T ACCESS THEM ANYMORE. We students used to be able to view the Sentral calendar. It would help a lot if we were able to access this. Not everyone has full access to the grapevine of information that is the teacher confiding details about when the test has been fully written.
Oh, dear...well, the events calendar is only for students, so we can't really look at when we can expect a reasonable cut-off date...anyway.

And for added Curriculum Review snark responses, see the link. Erm...here: http://sites.google.com/a/jamesruse.nsw.edu.au/central/misc/curriculum-review/files/stafff_mtg_160310.pdf?attredirects=0

Huh. The "blacking out names" policy is now dead, buried and cremated. In that order. Yes, Jim, that is the reason why we have a very burnt patch of ground out thataways.
Arrivederci, and à bientôt! *wave*

It's not like it's not obvious, is it?

Remind me to never, NEVER, EVER look up series finales before I've watched them...too late. HOLY SHI-F-CO-damn.
If you want to know, it was the Doctor Who season/series finale I was talking about. Then again, it was the second-last episode for this series season. *shivers* Then again, it was the second last episode for this series season. Spoilers.
Right, so, I don't expect you to expect me to meet your eyes when I say hello. Right. That sounded weird. Anyway. Um. So, I'll be off in my own little...excuse me an hour, I need to watch this.
*2 minutes later*
Right, it's not on yet. What, you say? Well, DUH. No explanation needed. *points to taglist for post* Isn't it obvious?
Anyway, so, I don't expect to be quite connected to reality until...um. Tough question, actually. When do I expect to be back?
LOL, incidental music. Is Murray Gold still the composer for Doctor Who?
Yes, I know this is obscure and probably only me, Jim, Victor K. and Amanda will actually know what I'm talking about when I'm not talking about myself for this. Doesn't stop me from writing about it, see?
Anyway. Spent too long on TVTropes. Excuse me a mo, I'll be back in, ooh, an hour. Probably. If I'm not doing my maths. Right.
*apparently 57 minutes later*
Aww, that was a lovely little episode. All about Vincent Van Gogh. I might just change my (Vista) desktop back to Irises.

Failure to have a very nice day

(draw a card)
Playing Mao online is almost pointless. The deck'd run out quicker than the game.
Speaking - draw a card.
Oh, shut up, we're not playing Mao.
And since when have I been plural?
As the joke goes, the only people sort-of allowed to use singular "we" are royalty, pregnant women and multiple personality disorder sufferers, so which am I? I should hope none of the above.
Hmm. You, dear reader, shall have to work hard to shift the debris of my mental processes aside to glean any useful information (or not) about what happened to-day.
And no, I am not high. I'm a rollercoaster with a high potential energy.
Hmm, I suddenly feel like downloading "Not Fair" by Lily Allen from bandit.fm because I have so much credit left from all the chip packets I ate. Which is like a bell curve in the middle of a flat line parallel to zero.
OK, I'm just high (or low) enough to attempt cheering myself up by aeroplaning up the stairs and, you know.
Looks like I'm in the usual all-time low mode tonight. At least the past few weeks have been a fun social experiment. Not that I was recording data. You know, being cheerful for a bit.
Science? Who said anything about K________ being bad? The stuff I've heard about T's teacher is even WORSE. Yes, really.
Also, I've kinda given up on trying to be weird. I'M JUST THE [CENSORED] AVERAGE HERE. I just wanted to be special. No, not in the B(oard)OS way.
Why are you crying? No, I don't know why I'm crying. Sometimes it happens.
Why is the Internet so slow? I dunno, is it copper cables we have out here?
And in Ag, people pulled Kenny's hair for no apparent reason. And Kenny and Shelley and Jim and I were playing 1 1/2 games of Big 2. Mhmm. *nods head emphatically*
And I got 21/30 and Han got 14/30, so we're all happy. Except for Jim, who was one mark shy of 25/30, and possibly Shelley, who lost half a mark on something about record keeping.
But still.
Maths? Nothing much, except Ashley probably didn't feel too comfortable under the microscope today. I dunno.
Sport, it was alright. Being mobbed isn't too pleasant, though. And getting a ball kicked RIGHT IN THE SHOULDER just before the final whistle isn't too pleasant, either. At least we didn't get pwnt epically, we lost 1-0.
What do I eat, what do I eat?
Oh, and if you were wondering, I ended up having those weird noodles that come all wound up. Bit hard to explain. And then more Neapolitan ice cream.
Phys Olympiad was almost OK, even though Mr K______ said that this was all easy.
Then again, this is exactly the sort of stuff covered in, ooh, what was it, Chapter 7 of Science Focus 4?
Well, that was good procrastination(!)

Novel novels

Well, I promised myself that I'd put up a a short story from the setting of the story when I had enough time to do so. This is NOT that story. After all, it had too many spoilers. Nothing really that I've not already spoiled here, but it would be too explicit were I to post it up now. So. You'll have to wait.

Friday

Anyway, so I woke up at 11:10 or something, after having slept from 4 pm the previous day till quarter past midnight; then staying awake coughing till my muscles hurt, then sleeping from about 4 till then, realised that the French program was on, and FINALLY getting a chance to listen to the French program.
Then Mum was fretting about getting me to a doctor, because of my coughing fit.
Brunch was bocconcini, roughly chopped, with bolognese (with bacon) sauce and basil on a halved roll. As in halved along the length. Tasty.
Then I watched "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" from a copy made by Alexandra's friend's mum (who has also been Mum's friend since they met), which had Korean subtitles, till 3, when I got changed in anticipation that Mum would take me to the doctor's. I knew the booking was at 5, but...yeah. (that means I've been wearing this for 10 hours. No wonder it's got stains.
So then, we get lost when we go to the doctors at West Ryde (because the doctors at Carlingford Court were fully booked and Mum forgot how to get there and what the address was) and we end up waiting for 45 minutes and I found myself watching "Millionaire: Hot Seat", which I despise.
As I was watching, I found out that the name of Porntip the elephant's baby's called Mali now. BUT WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS WOULD NAME AN ELEPHANT FREAKING "PORNTIP"?!
And then we went and bought medicine at the pharmacy in Carlingford Village, and I see that they sell my old variety of Impulse, which I'm running out of. But Mum lets me buy hand sanitiser, at the very least.
And then we get home, I'm all eager to post, then Dad gets it in his mind to permanently fix the Ethernet cables in place because the WiFi fails. And to make the place "neater".
So then, I eat a bowl of Neapolitan ice cream with 100's and 1000's at 1am IN THE FREAKING MORNING, because Dad was busy with cables. That. Is. Freaking. AWESOME.
And then I've basically been posting/messing with WMA since.
Ooh, and don't forget massemailing the whole of Anu's notes' mailing list combined with my contacts to give them desperately-needed information for the Ag exam on Tuesday. Which I haven't started studying for yet.
Oh, and what kind of guy orders the first people in a manned hot-air balloon flight to be criminals, only to be talked out of it? And I have to write this guy for my novel? At least the balloon looks cool. Here it is.
I say, that's a damned nice balloon.

Cross country and-- STOP INTERRUPTING ME!

WTF? Apparently I've done...ah, right.
WTFOMGBBQ IT'S NOT IN THE POST LIST?!
OH, RIIIIGHT.
I think it was the name of the OTHER post on Cross Country I did before I changed the name.
iTunes had better work today.
WTF IT'S STILL NOT WORKING?!
Mass email sent.
OH SHI--- I ACCIDENTLY FORGOT TO DELETE DAD'S AND MY EMAIL ADDRESSES. OOPS.
FREAKING HELL, I REINSTALLED ITUNES AND ITS STILL NOT FREAKING SHOWING UP WHEN I START IT ON MY XP COMPUTER WHAT THE HELL?

What was I going to post about? Ah, right.
CROSS COUNTRY WAS MEH. I mostly walked with Linly and Jenny because I couldn't run for long periods with this cold.

Right, that's it, I'm uninstalling iTunes from this computer.

Where was I?
Anyway, so the only bits where I was actually running was bits of the downhill sections, where Jenny & Linly were "flying" (like an aeroplane) and so I had to keep up with them. But then I run out of puff HALFWAY down the hill and basically they run faster than me, so end up having to catch up to them...

WHY THE F*** WOULD YOU NEED TO VALIDATE MY ITUNES INSTALL WHEN YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE F***ING UNINSTALLING IT AND IT'S A FREE DOWNLOAD FROM APPLE ANYWAY?!

Back to yesterday. Right.

WTF ITUNES WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO RESTART TO COMPLETE AN "INSTALLATION" THAT'S ACTUALLY AN UNINSTALLATION?!

Right. Yesterday.
But then, my walking speed is actually FASTER than Linly and Jenny's walking speed, so then I end up catching to them.
And then, when we're finishing, ...

FREAKING HELL I'VE REINSTALLED ITUNES AND IT STILL ISN'T WORKING WTF?
Good, my nose isn't bleeding any more.

Several hours later:
Right, sorry 'bout that, my internet was disconnected to make way for permanent installation of the Ethernet cable to these rooms upstairs.
DAMNED ITUNES PROBABLY STILL DOESN'T WORK.
QUICKTIME WORKS F***ING BETTER THAN IT, BUT IT DOESN'T KEEP A LIBRARY. AND IT ONLY PLAYS ONE FILE AT A TIME. DAMN IT! (At least it can play protected files.)
DAMN IT, HURRY UP AND CONNECT MY INTERNET!
FREAKING HELL, WMA DOESN'T PLAY VIDEOS. HMPF.
YAYY I CAN HAS "PARLEZ-VOUS FRANCAIS?"!
YAYY INTERNET'S BACK ON!!!!

Where was I? Ah, right.
So then, when Jenny and Linly and I were walking back in to the finish line, people were like, "come on, run!", and we were like, "Nah, we're walking the rest of it." and like, fully "too cool to race" sauntering down to the finish (well, I was, anyway) and then someone was like "So who's going to put their foot over the line first?", and then I put my foot over the line a literal millisecond before Jenny did, while Linly was lagging behind with Sandra, who'd already finished, so she came ABSOLUTE LAST, then Jenny came second last and I came third...last.

So then some things happened (out of order):
  • My chocolate melted.
  • I went to ask if anyone in the 15's race came in after Linly. Apart from David X., who was STAYING HOME AS PER USUAL. AHAHAHA HE LIVES NEXT TO A CONSTRUCTION SITE NOW, BECAUSE HE'S MOVED AWAY (from Bonita, that is.)
  • I walked up and down (half) the length of of the oval.
  • I took out my umbrella.
  • I saw Ms B_____ and Mrs L_M____ with lemon ice tea, BUT I RAN OUT OF COINS BECAUSE I WAS BUYING CHOCOLATES FROM MONICA AND SNAKES FROM ABBI POOH.
  • I noticed I'd sweated clean through my singlet, which I'd been stupid enough to think I needed. (Damn my stupidity!) At least I hadn't sweated through my shorts, which I'd worn under my trackpants, which Abbi wondered how I managed to run in them (the same way I run in them when I'm playing cricket/soccer)
Oh! I've forgotten to mention some things that happened.
Right, so after we arrived at the oval, I took a copy of the program; dumped my bag near Didi/Anu/Bonnie/Amelia/blah; had a nap and woke up 40 minutes later to Ms R______, my sports teacher, calling for the 14's to go to the "Marshalling area" (which was really the part of the road at the corner of it near the toilet blocks).

{real-time note: "pyrite" skin for WMA is pretty cool. Steampunk, almost.}

And then I bought the aforementioned block of Top Deck chocolate (which became the subject of a photo which I can't post right now due to not having a) my USB cable for my phone b) appropriate software for said smartphone (2005 Hong Kong version thereof)) from Monica and a bag of TNCC snakes from Abbi.

{real-time note #2 : browsing the forum & AHAHAHA Jim has no idea who Nancy is HAHAHA}
{real-time note #3 : still browsing the forum &, well, I have a pdf of it, and the original piccy's 2.25 MB ('cause it's a screenshot), and you get to see my very nice Firefox skin. Unfortunately, I can't upload it. Ah, here it is. It's big, though.
}
{real-time note #4 : Wow, my sense of gravity is warping, I feel like I'm on an inclined plane. It doesn't help that the computer monitor is set at an angle to the front of the desk and that I'm typing in a completely dark room with no other sources of light. And that I'm actually leaning to type because the keyboard's a little too far away, but now I can have more stuff on the table. Here's more piccies, pixel art this time.
Yeah, it was a weird feeling. No wonder I was dropping sideways out of the chair and onto the printer (not shown, to left of desk)}

Right, so after I bought chocolate and snakes for the glucose value for the Cross Country, I ate 6 squares of it, and Freya asked me to pose for a photo. (She called it a "seduction pose". Her words, not mine. Her words.)
And I sort-of Twittered it on my phone. (Can't use Twitter on this piece of scrap plastic, so I saved it to notes.) I'll just type it all up verbatim, yeah?
"Cross Country carnival
9:49
Had a nap, bought chocolate (Top Deck) and lollies (snakes) for glucose value. Ate 6 squares of chocolate.
14 boys and girls to marshalling area.
So glad don't have to run lap of oval.
Posed for Freya.
27 mins till start of race.(10:20 start)
Drank half my juice in one gulp already.
10:00
Ate another 3 squares of chocolate. Drank all of my juice. 14s have started.
WTF happened to the rest of the grade?
Today's hot. Especially with this singlet on.
10:10
Some guy had a diablo. [FREAKING AWESOME, it was.]
Marshalling area now.
Had to take a water bottle, I'd die otherwise."
[/quote]
Then we started at 10:18 (my watch) and we finished about an hour later, significantly revised down from previous estimate of 2 hours at 2.5 km/h.
Ooh, and then after that, I went down to sit with Victor/Amanda/Rong/Michelle where Victor was making up "sexfics" (don't ask) about stuff like Naruto, Bleach and figure-skating (due to him reading Amanda's "midnight tweets"), for which Amanda later proceeded to give Victor a lecture on while the below people proceeded to sing random songs.. Victor refused to do one on Doctor Who, on being informed that that was my particular fandom. Double standards, Victor.
Then Shelley and Tina and Bonita and Dominic joined us and I moved my bag (to get the chocolate out of the sunshine), and then Dominc and Victor had a "dizzy race" and I accused Victor of cheating because he started spinning later and he did slower spins and less of them before running.
And then, after Amanda'd lectured Victor on the disciplines of figure skating and Tina made a clover chain for Victor as a bracelet, they ran off, leaving me with Shelley and Bonita and Dominic for company, and they started singing songs which I didn't remember well from a few years ago, and then they got stuck on Telephone. I came to the rescue with my lappy, and then the bell rang for lunch.
Then I got changed, sprayed too much deo in the changerooms, some REALLY SMELLY water drained past the toilet block, I went to the locker and shoved my sport clothes & shoes in, and then it was Geo, and Ms B______ was like, "If you haven't got the coastal management thing today could you please hand it in I need it sometime in the next half-week" and we watched a video.
Then it was maths, and I asked Mr W__ why we learned variation anyway, even though it could all be done with equations, or punching it in the calculator. He said that it was to "train your mind to think in different patterns" even though "it could be more easily done by punching it in the calculator", but not until after he'd delivered a lecture on how useful a thing was didn't determine whether or not it should be learned, using this example:
W___: "For example, learning about the Somme isn't really important, but I think it should be learnt anyway as part of our history"
Beatrice: "The lesson is: never join up for war"
Ashley: *I forget what he said, jog my memory.*
W___: "Way to contradict my point, guys."
Beatrice: "Was it WWI or..."
W___: "WWI. Remember, WWI had trenches and-"
Beatrice: "WWII had tanks."
Me: "It had Hitler."

So then it was Ag, and if you got an email from me, you'll know what we learnt in that lesson.
NOTE: Friday split off to different post, this one's too long already.

Hold me tight / Just dance with me once; I promise you'll be OK

I wish I could sing in public, but it seems I just can't do it.
For once I'm not angsty or stressed.
But you know what I really want to do at the moment? For some reason I really want to do ballroom dancing again. I've never admitted this to anyone, but I guess I'm just an incurable old-fashioned romantic at heart, really.
Basically, if I could, I'd just get up and spin myself around the room.
I'm just so happy this week, I don't know why.
Maybe it's because, finally, I have confidence in myself.

Mon dieu, j'ai besoin d'un boisson

If you, like Xiong, ghost my blog, absorbed the whole of TVTropes AND read some French (or have access to Google Translate), you should get the reference.
Maybe I should down the entire contents of the champagne bottle in the fridge downstairs in the kitchen. (On the first floor here, avec my more reliable computer.) Not much has been drunk out of it, may I add.
Well, merde.
Haven't done anything remotely productive in the holidays. And now I'm going to get owned by the Geo test.
On an unrelated note, have I stated often enough that I love my massage cushion?
On another unrelated note, I like my Firefox Persona/skin. It's like, nice and floaty. And did I mention that it looks like an elaborate version of a fleur-de-lis? Very relevant, that. To my novel, that is.
...wait, what. There's a fleur-de-lis skin for Firefox?
Meh. It's just not classic like mine is. (I didn't create either of the skins, BTW, I'm just using it.)
It is very remiss of me to [synonym of "forget" starting with "o"] to install Australian and French dictionaries for Firefox on either computer.
Merde. Neither dictionary is compatible with this version of Firefox (3.6.3).

I'll split off the novel discussion into a separate post, yeah?
This is a medium-length collection in semi-list format of long updates on my life, eh?
Today was the first day of school. I'll put it in a tag, too.
What a nice bookend to the holidays.
Anyway, I have a new favourite song album, I can't pick a song, most of them are good. It's called Pays Sauvage by Emily Loizeau. I borrowed it from Parra library last week. Also, most of the songs are in French.
Anyway, about school.
Meh. Wasn't as bad as expected. LOL, W_____ didn't show up for the French test AS USUAL. Instead we got a sub and our first "Ça Va?" magazine. It's not as hard as expected, but I've only had the barest of flips through. Damn, wish I could have free entrance to Parisian museums, like the Louvre and Versailles. (Hey, that's what it said. Not to mention that free entrance to Versailles would be useful, also for the novel.)
Ag, c'est comme d'un seau [bucket] d'eau froid. SO MUCH. IT'S SO MUCH STUFF I SHOULD'VE DONE. Merde.
Science was two periods of "WTF, Mr K________" as per usual. I wonder if he's even going to bother to explain what induction is. Like Han (last time), when he was talking about Tesla, I was like, "Tesla coil...". Yeah, not much there.
English was moderately cool; we had a video. Which I promptly slept through. Hey, what d'you expect? I'd only had a few hours of sleep.
IPT...ah, shit. No comment.
And that was my (out-of-order) day.
Did I mention that Sunday Doctor Who was cool?
Especially the food scene.
Music's random, though.
Font of opening title's kinda random too.
Right, I should get back to Geo, then IPT.
EDIT: J'ai oublié! Bon anniversaire, Becca!
