Obligatory International Women's Day Celebration Post

What I'd Like To Be Doing:
  • Posting about #KONY2012 and wondering what this says about [THING] (glittering tinsel of neo-colonialism and neo-militarism yayy)
  • Rereading Ethan of Athos (yet another Bujold book) for the lulz perhaps, because it was supposed to be about uterine replicators and monasticism, and wondering about uterine replicators (and privilege, and access, and guiltily about dying in birth and its current reality)
  • Posting about what I learned about feminism in the last year
  • Posting about stupidity and control in that birth control debate (not a very good R. Catholic, I know), of which somehow the readers of Charles Stross' blog have somehow concluded that there are some people who like control over women (this much is obvious) and that some prominent people have BDSM tendencies, or something
  • Starting Internet memes, or at least adding to the humour on the Internet.
What I'll Actually Be Doing:
  • Writing about "The Boat" and cadeaux salés du sang and MacLeod and global vs local and values et cetera
  • [SOMETHING ABOUT HITLER] - Modern History student, remember?
  • Humanity in Frankenstein and Blade Runner! More fun times ahead!
  • And of course, thankfully anaesthetic maths. Not soporific, hopefully, but nicely anaesthetic.

Of course, things could always be worse - one could be an abused traumatised kidnapped enslaved Ugandan child soldier, or are they not in Uganda anymore? (no demeaning of problems in Central Africa intended, but dodgy charity campaigns...)

For The Great & Glorious Advance Of Science!

Or, Whenever I Read Somebodies Elses' "I Extremely Dislike This Behaviour" Posts Where They Direct Their Anger At Particular People WITHOUT NAMING SAID PERSON, My First Instinct Is To Think It's About Me And Offer To Grovel Vociferously (which is why I name the person I'm directing my anger against, in an Austenian or Brontëist manner)
Or, Sometimes I Feel I Deserved October Last Year (in a cosmically just &/or masochistic manner)
Or, Kick Dichotomies To The Curb And Go Beyond The Impossible! (in a manner that is an inverted & twisted parody of Tenga Toppen Gurren Lagann)
Or, Ethical Mad Scientists Are Not Oxymoronic (much like the content below the cut)

THIS IS OBVIOUSLY & BLATANTLY UNFINISHED BUT I NEED THE TAGS

Cut for a "meme" (well, the questions spread memetically...) shamelessly stolen from Shelley. Bolded italic text originally Shelley's, vanilla text mine.

Over-Prescriptive, Over-Prohibitive, & Over-There: SOPA & PIPA

Or, But I Don't Want To Go Cold Turkey On My Fanfic & My Torrents (not that I contribute to any)
Or, HAHAHA I'm Not A USofA Citizen You Can't Block Me HA HA HA HA HA (to be sung to the tune of a childish tune)

This blog post is currently being researched - in the meantime, the original bills are SOPA here and PIPA here.
If you're wondering why this is being posted now, when I haven't done my research, is so that some tags will appear in my tag list/you know that I'm not dead and I haven't forgotten this blog/this blog will be shut down & I can sue the US for fame and money (ah, the motivations of men)/I will have a reason to do this. For a preview, read the tags, though at the moment, they're not much help.
Also, I bet that I could write Rule 34 for this if I could be bothered, and it'd be absolute shit.

Not Quite A Polemic, More An Off-Topic Discussion, Starring Me As "The Devil's Advocate" (Now With Quotes From Series 1 through 5 of Doctor Who (and Han)!)

Or, Ruse girls = slut-faced prostitutes, y/n?
Or, Someone Should Tip Off The SMH To See What The Public Makes Of This, If Only For The Troll Value
Warnings: Justified Bluntness and Vulgarity, also Blatant Lies (occasionally, and not part of main narrative)
"THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING!"
  - Rory Pond-Williams, on discovering that the "stripper" (no, not that one, the other one) that he hired was actually a ex-Ruse girl who'd accidentally worn "inappropriate clothing" and had been mistaken for the real stripper.
If you're a "friend" of Eileen, you might be able to read this: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1828669367111&id=1551636765 . It has more intellectual value than this quick summary for posterity.

Also, in other news, (yes, it is first - reason under the cut...sort of) I have found out that France has a national "youth" channel. It screens Doctor Who, presumably dubbed.
