Paul le Octopus est mort, mais Henri le Octopus n'est pas mort.

Now Playing: I Belong to You ( + Mon Cœur S'ouvre À Toi) - Muse (The Resistance) (one indent, quote)
And there's now another volcano, this time in Indonesia. (And also a tsunami, also in Indonesia.) (centre-aligned)
The Sunraysia Irrigators Council rep on ABC24 now (7:45 AM, 27/10/10) was rather reactionary. "No compromises" and "We'll not give a drop of water back!" were the catchphrases of the day. It occurs to me that perhaps the fact that "waiting for rain" isn't actually a viable response to the lack of water in the Murray-Darling system hasn't actually occured to them yet. (right-aligned)
  • There was more radian measure in maths, and then I attempted to teach basic differential calculus to Han. (I don't think it worked too well, but at least he knows what "intergration" & "differentiation" mean in the context of calculus.) Also, Han is comparing what subjects we're doing to what he's doing (i.e. 2U Maths, 2U English, Phys, Bio, Jap & Modern History). Mr Woo was "slightly disturbed" by my possession of a 7-9 exam supervision timetable (I'd picked it up on Monday after French; someone'd left it in the room and had written "Hi Mr Wilson! " on it. I suspect it was Ms Murphy's, given that there are stars next to her name on the sheets) which I'd produced when Ms Chen went up to Mr Woo wondering what classroom she was supposed to supervise. And then in Ag, we had first Ms Steele, then Mr Driscoll as substitutes, because Johnson was mysteriously not present. (bullet points)
    1. In English, we were moved to W1.7 (that's the new music/band room) & got our papers back: J'ai un note 71 sur 90 (34 +12 + 8 + 17); Han got 65 (35 + 2 + 8 + 20); and that's all I know so far. Can't remember anyone else's properly. Well, I know Sharon got 32/45 for multichoice, which isn't bad; and that Jim & Roshan got 20 and Xiong 18 for the short story (and Jim says he'd managed to waste all of his whiteout on rewriting the story). I managed to lose a mark for not indenting the paragraphs, of all things! There's absolutely nothing wrong with leaving a line between! In honour of this, there shall now be absurdly formatted paragraphs in this post (hopefully). (two indents, numbered points)

How did Han got a ridiculously low mark? - as reported by Han and interpreted for <strike>more lulz</strike> the internet by me (left-aligned, underlined)

  • First, he saw the first two questions of the short answer and thought, "Hmm, this is easy, I'll do these questions". Then, he saw the next question and thought, "OMGWTF I'll just go onto the writing and have fun there". Then he went and had fun writing and did alright there, but because he'd gone and spent too much time a) having fun writing the article/story b) writing so slowly that he didn't come back and finish the short answer. He got full marks for the ones he did answer, but, well, see above. (centre-aligned, bullet points)
    • And then we had sport. Je me suis foulé la cheville encore, quand j'ai attrapé le balle, (i.e. I sprained it again, this time when I was stopping a ball (as wicketkeeper). At least it's not serious, like last time.) je n'ai pas attrapé le ball deux ou trois fois (I missed a couple of caught-behinds, mostly 'cause I wasn't paying attention); mais nous avons gagné (we won 98/2-7?/2)! (right-aligned, bullet points, one indent)
  1. Then I went up to the library, met a Year 12, played hearts with said Year 12 and Arlen, and lost so badly that I nearly shot the moon twice - by accident. (I got 24 both times, and they were the only games played.) Han tied with Arlen for 1, Michael (said Year 12) came second with 2, and I came in at 48. Yeah. (numbered points)
